Syrah is considered the most “Sicilian” among the international vine varieties. Already implanted in 1989, in Contrada Mandranova, it has wonderfully adapted to the local climatic conditions.

A travel through time describes the characteristics of older vintages and shows the evolution of wines that still surprise many years later.
2016: A good year, characterized by little rainfall and mild temperatures. This slowed down the ripening of the grapes which, overall, very evenly ripened. A vintage of great balance, with structure and elegance make the 2016 very approachable and easy drinking. The nose is very fresh and fruity, with hints of black currant, blackberries and well-integrated barrel notes. A meaty wine, with very fine tannins and a long, fresh finish.
2017: A very warm year, with little rainfall in summer and temperatures well above the seasonal average, which anticipated harvest time. However, the vegetative development of the vines was great, thanks to enough winter rains that helped the vines to react to high temperatures. On the nose, ripe red fruit scents prevail over delicate spicy notes. In the mouth the tannins are vigorous, but lightened by marked acidity. The mouthfeel is full and enveloping, with a long and persistent finish.
2018: The heavy spring and summer rainfall marked the vintage, causing some difficulties in the vineyard and a delay in harvesting. Nevertheless, the great work of selection in the vineyard has allowed us to harvest healthy grapes. The vintage produced is more vertical and slender, very elegant and immediately balanced.
2019: The vintage was characterized by a cold and rainy spring that caused a few weeks of delay in budding and flowering. The very stable summer climate, with little rainfall and mild temperatures, gave us perfect conditions for the ripening process and healthy and high quality grapes. It’s a vintage with a perfect balance between finesse and body, and a rich aromatic profile.
